PRINCETON TWP.--A house of prostitution in Princeton? Thats what the neighbors of Mer... Princeton mom a prostitute?: Cop
"We began working on leads of an excessive amount of traffic moving in and out of her apartment" at the Griggs Farm condos, 147 Griggs Drive, Buchanan said.
A month ago, police began an in-depth investigation of the blonde 50-year-old mother of three, whose website (www.netspress.commeryl/) advertises everything from foot reflexology, Swedish massage, liver flushes, writing workshops for women, and so on, for from $75 to $100 an hour.
She even claims to be "a legally ordained minister through the Universal Brotherhood Movement" who "performs non-denomination weddings, partnerings, and other sacred rituals to fit the occasions."
" ... I can only Be in Ecstasy/ transported to a celestial realm/ where there is only sublime peace, bliss, and love/ I close my radiant golden eyes/ and melt into a still place deep within myself/ simultaneously melting into you/ no boundaries whatsoever ... "
Township Detective Annette Henderson enlisted the help of Detective Gary Wasko of the Mercer County Prosecutors Office, and to work they went.
"We sat on the apartment and did the investigation; you know how it works," Buchanan said, "and we tried to determine what if any activity is going on there.
Asked if a legal massage business wouldnt certainly also have a lot of traffic, Buchanan named a few such known legitimate shops -- Metropolis at the Princeton Shopping Center, and several spas on Route 206 north.
"But when you have an apartment where you have people coming in and out, you want to know if it is legit," he said. "If she was just purely massage and we investigate it, and it turns out to be legitimate, then there is no charge, and no newspaper articles.
"But when you conduct an investigation and you confirm that there is actual sexual activity being offered for a fee," he said, "then you have prostitution.
He said the undercover officer was "offered sexual favors for money ... she [James] performed sexual acts for monetary compensation ... she was willing to perform sexual gratification for a fee."
Buchanan said the cop didnt perform any acts, and he wouldnt detail the favors -- that comes later in court. And MerylJames refused a request for an interview with The Trentonian.
But Buchanan pointed to other media reports in which James "confesses" to nude body massage and "assisting" customers with enlarged prostates or erectile dysfunction for medical reasons.
She reportedly bragged about working 10 years in the Princeton area, but claimed she was set up-- entrapped -- and denied she ever did anything "but what was therapeutic."
Cops grabbed her log book of clients names. Rev. James reportedly said the list includes at least one Princeton University professor and doctors and salesmen who like massage.
