ndre Agassi accidentally hit Steffi Graf in the face with his tennis racket, cutting his wife's lip, as the pair played a game while holding hands for a fundraiser following the U.S. Clay Court Championships finals in Texas on Sunday.

The couple was in town for Agassi's part in a reality show called The Big Give, an upcoming Oprah Winfrey production. An auction raised at least $225,000 Sunday for a Houston-area elementary school chosen for the show.

Agassi retired last year at the U.S. Open, having won eight Grand Slam titles. Graf retired in 1999 with 22 Grand Slam titles. The couple has two children and live in Las Vegas.

Patrick Dempsey was at Homestead-Miami Speedway in Florida over the weekend to compete in the timed 2.5-hour Grand-Am Koni Challenge GS sports car race on Sunday. Dempsey, 41, is a driver and part-owner in the pro-Am sports car series.

Maneuvering a sports car and going as fast as 170 mph give him more of a rush than filming dramatic scenes for his television show, Dempsey said.

"I really enjoy racing much more than I enjoy doing the show," Dempsey said. "I mean I enjoy the show, but it's a different thing because it's like a long distance race."

Two nude portraits, a 1996 print by Irving Penn and a 6-by-6-foot square image by Albert Watson, are expected to sell for about $44,000 and $30,000 respectively, the auction house said.

An unpublished photo, being sold by one of the 33-year-old's friends, is expected to sell for about $12,000. The portrait, taken by photographer Corinne Day in 1990, was shot in London two years after Moss was discovered at a New York airport at age 14.

Another shot taken by Day in 1993 for Vogue magazine, which features a 19-year-old Moss, is expected to sell for $14,000. The Vogue shoot helped propel the grunge movement into the mainstream and launch the "heroin chic" look in the 1990s.

Photographs of the 57-year-old actor embracing Shilpa Shetty and kissing her on the cheek at an HIV/AIDS awareness event in New Delhi were splashed across yesterday's front pages in India - a country where sex and public displays of affection are largely taboo.

In Mumbai, members of the right-wing Hindu nationalist group Shiv Sena beat burning effigies of Gere with sticks and set fire to glamorous shots of Shetty.

Similar protests broke out in other cities, including Varanasi, Hinduism's holiest city, and in the northern town of Meerut, where crowds chanted "Down with Shilpa Shetty!"

The two appeared at a press conference in New Delhi on Sunday to highlight the HIV/AIDS epidemic among India's truck drivers. In front of a cheering crowd, Gere kissed the giggling Shetty on the hand, then kissed her on both cheeks before bending her in a full embrace to kiss her cheek again.

"I understand this is his culture, not ours. But this was not such a big thing or so obscene for people to overreact in such manner," she told the Press Trust of India news agency.
